Constant Giving Can Lead to Personal Struggles – Biodun Okeowo Warns
Nollywood actress Biodun Okeowo, popularly known as Omoborty, has taken to Instagram to share a heartfelt message about the burden of constantly helping others.
In a reflective post, the actress warned against giving selflessly to the point of personal suffering. She noted that if one keeps assisting everyone, a time may come when they’ll need help, and people will question what they did with their own money.
To drive her point home, Omoborty shared a personal encounter with a colleague in the entertainment industry who complained about the overwhelming number of financial requests he receives in his DMs. He confessed to avoiding his inbox because of the pressure.
The actress admitted she could relate, revealing that there are times she plans to spend on herself but ends up diverting the funds to help others instead.
“I told myself, help people, but not at your own expense,” she wrote.
Omoborty concluded by cautioning that responding to every emotional appeal may eventually lead to becoming a cautionary tale, as those once applauding you might be the same ones to tear you down later.
She wrote;
“Some of us will not like this caption! Because the truth is bitter!
If you keep helping everybody, one day you’ll become the one who needs help… and they’ll ask you what you did with your money. Read that again.
