FRSC Confirms Two Fatalities in Umuahia-Arochukwu Road Crash

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Abia State Sector Command, has confirmed that two people lost their lives in a tragic road accident along the Umuahia-Arochukwu road on Saturday. The incident, which involved a Mark truck and a tricycle (registration number ATN 201 VU), occurred amidst rainy conditions.

Sector Commander Mrs. Ngozi Ezeoma, speaking to newsmen, reported that the FRSC rescue team received the crash alert at 4:33 p.m. and arrived at the scene within two minutes to conduct emergency response operations. Preliminary investigations point to a speed limit violation (SLV) as the primary cause, exacerbated by wet weather that likely reduced visibility and vehicle control on the paved road.

Injured victims were promptly transported to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Umuahia for treatment, while the two deceased were taken to the FMC Umuahia mortuary. Ezeoma expressed the FRSC’s condolences to the families of the deceased and wished the injured a swift recovery.

The Sector Commander urged road users, particularly commercial drivers, to adhere to speed limits and exercise caution, especially during adverse weather conditions. “The Corps remains committed to ensuring safer roads and fuller lives in Abia State and beyond,” she stated.
