“I promised myself I’ll never say this anywhere but I’ll just say it so people will know. My father never supported my music career. I even had a studio in the house in Nigeria but he didn’t know. The house is too big, it’s over 30 rooms, I don’t even know the exact number of rooms in that house till date. The room where I put my studio was directly by my room but my father never went into that room. When my father came back from work, he’ll just go to his room and call me if he wants to see me.
I was always playing loud music in the studio even when he was home but he never heard. I even used to snêak in people in the house and record with them and he didn’t know. I was also going out to the clubs, getting drûnk, carrying girls, and producing music for other upcoming artiste in the house but my dad still didn’t know. I really sûffered.” ~ Davido
Poor man pikin no fit relate to the kind of difficulties Davido faced for choosing to be a musician but it was enough for him to give up and he didn’t because he was determined 🙌
