Opobo-Epellema Link Road Project Progress Report — Gov. Fubara
Amid ongoing political tension and the disruptions that have characterized Rivers State’s democratic landscape in recent months, a powerful symbol of resilience and development is quietly stretching across the green expanse of Opobo/Nkoro: a 5.75km link road with a 450-meter bridge, connecting Opobo to Epellema and Kalaibiama.
The project, awarded by the administration of Governor Siminalayi Fubara to Monier Construction Company Nigeria Limited (MCC) on June 7, 2024, is not just another road, it is a transformative artery bringing hope, connectivity, and infrastructural justice.

Captured in the aerial drone image attached, the road cuts a clean, modern path through lush rainforest terrain.
The road is more than a transport route,it is a statement of intent by the Fubara administration that development must reach every corner, no matter how remote or politically contested.

The project includes:
A 5.75km stretch of road with spur
A 450-meter bridge under construction
Solar-powered street lighting, ensuring sustainability and nighttime safety

As one of the flagship projects earmarked for completion and commissioning by Governor Fubara, the Opobo-Epellema-Kalaibiama road represents a beacon of governance focused on service delivery rather than political rhetoric.
